_FALLOW GROUND
_In recent years there has been emphasis upon the "Wind of Holiness" that
will be coming upon the church, followed by an increase in anointing.
Many have criticized and dishonored the efforts of ministries called to
specifically address the application gap between hearing the Word and
doing the Word. This failure to discern that many healing ministries were
raised up as part of the "Wind of Holiness" has resulted in some confusion,
private debate, and even public rejection of the gifts God gave to the Body.
We will find however that there will be no man-made shortcuts to revival.
Whether it's a season of joy, renewal, and sweet ointments, or one of a myrrh
bath, we are in preparation to meet the King. Most called to the ministry
have heard enough shocking confessions by now to know that we are in desperate
need of a myrrh bath. Jesus spoke in Matthew 23:26 concerning the need for heart
cleansing: "...first clean the inside of the cup and of the platter, that the
outside of it may become clean also."
The scripture speaks of breaking up fallow ground, which may be a field not worked
for a season, or new ground (Jer 4:3 and Hos 10:12). When I was young I helped out
on the family farm by working the fields with a small tractor. I've plowed new
ground. The first trip across an unplowed field shakes every bone in the body.
Then, in order to "break up the clods", it's necessary to cross plow... which means
riding across uneven mounds in order to prepare the land. The sun was hot, the
days were long, and it was necessary to stand while driving to avoid breaking bones
when the tractor would jolt suddenly between rows. Breaking fallow ground is not
very pleasant, but the scripture warns us not to attempt to "sow among thorns".
If we sow among thorns, the ride may be much more pleasant for the worker, but the
harvest will suffer greatly. If we desire a good crop, the land must be prepared.
The same will be true for the church.
Isaiah 40:3-5
...Prepare you in the wilderness the way of Yahweh; make level in
the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted,
and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the uneven shall
be made level, and the rough places a plain: and the Glory of Yahweh
shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth
of Yahweh has spoken it.
