_MUD, SPIT AND REVIVAL
_Moses' simple wooden staff...was used to bring forth water from a rock,
plagues upon Egypt, and change its form into a living serpent as a sign.
Aaron's rod... became alive, yielding buds, blossoms and almonds as a sign
of his calling.
A serpent of brass... was anointed with healing for the Israelites who had
murmured against God.
A spoken word... and the sun stood still for Joshua.
The mantle of Elijah... parted the waters for Elisha.
A smooth stone... killed a giant.
Water... turned into wine.
A coin in the mouth of a fish... paid taxes.
Five loaves and two fishes... fed five thousand with 12 baskets left over.
A Galilean fisherman... walked on water.
Mud and spit.... were anointed to heal a blind man.
Handkerchiefs and shadows... healed the sick.
I can't help but be somewhat amused when controversies arise over
manifestations in revival meetings. Sooner or later one is likely to
hear "well, I haven't seen THAT in MY Bible..."
Wood, mud, spit, handkerchiefs, shadows, words, stone, brass, coins...
and faith.
At the time these miracles took place, it had never been done that way
before. Can you imagine, if these things were to take place in our day...
someone would surely think of chipping off a piece of Moses' staff and
analyzing it under a microscope to see if it was real wood or not.
And guess what...
It WAS indeed just plain old ordinary wood.
Because God delights in using the ordinary.
2 Corithians 4:7
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the
excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
